I want to thank June Matthews for helping me understand my own life.  I have Complex PTSD also and I recognized myself and many things that happen in my house during an episode. I would love to talk with you sometime.

This is the best personal account I have read of what PTSD can do to a person. I bought the book for the paranormal story, and was surprised to see that a link between trauma and paranormal events could be made.
I became clairaudient after a terrible car crash, and have dealt with the PTSD since I was fifteen. I am now sixty-five. I was surprised that the author specified a link between these conditions. I had not heard anyone else put forth that theory. I believe it is a valid theory. ...more

This is an amazing true story! The author June Matthews relives her past traumas brought on by paranormal experiences witnessed and documented in her home in a no holds heart and soul felt novel. June Matthews has a gift for bringing to light her own terrificly terrorizing past trauma and builds the potential link between PTSD and the paranormal. She has also created a companion DVD the reader can turn to after finishing marked chapters so the reader can wittiness her documentation of paranormal and supernatural experiences.

Interesting New Theory
First of all, I have always enjoyed books about real haunted houses. So on that front alone this is a good read. There were so many occurrences in the house that I ask myself if I could stay or if sheer terror would drive me out. But the theory that CPTSD could be related to one's experience of paranormal phenomena is a new one to me. I find it fascinating. This is the kind of book that I want to read a second time. I look forward to The Meeting Place. ...more

I also know the struggle with drugs and alcohol and am still fighting with my demons.. this is a great book of true events and I will update more as I go along... ...more

A good read
This was more of a therapeutic book for people with PTSD than a book about the paranormal. The author was very descriptive in the telling of her story which included her past trauma that may have played a part in her paranormal encounters. While it was a good story and well written it hit a crescendo and then just maintained throughout the book. There were not major high points or a wrap up in the end. It gave me the impression that the author was using the writing process to better understand her circumstances, to vent, and to heal. A good book for PTSD folks and people who want a ...more

I grew up in a haunted house, and I have PTSD, just like Mrs. Mathews. For the first time in all these years, I made the connection between the two things, including the root cause. I wouldn't wish these experiences on anyone, but I'm grateful that she risked ridicule and disbelief by writing this book. It's a good read just on its own merits, well written and with the ring of truth. But for those of us who've lived in this situation, it may be the only validation we'll ever get: someone else kn ...more

This is one of the most interesting reads for me , what June went through and her family living in a haunted House. Only disappointment for me where were all the photos they took? It was a let down their weren't some pics at the end of the book. Other wise this was a wonderful read. ...more

I really enjoyed reading this book and found it hard to put down. It's a fresh take on the typically ubiquitous haunted house story and isn't scary, but rather, is positive, enlightening, and not overly dramatized. Being able to watch the DVD and actually SEE what's being described in the book is really fun and helps brings the story to life.
